As I sit with these learning experiences behind me: spanning coursework, projects, readings, and conversations, I find myself shaped in support by this journey, informing both what I know, as well as how I see. Assignments developed into a deeper understanding of the work I want to do and the values that will lead me, as well as the kind of presence I wish to maintain across my communities.
I understand that knowledge is a living responsibility: to use what I learn to expand my own mind and skillset, as well as to help weave access, empathy, and justice into the spaces I am entrusted to be in. During this program, I have confronted assumptions while practicing the importance of humility, led by curiosity, and perseverance. The most impactful lessons came in navigating complexities, listening to others, revising drafts, and recognizing the domino effect of each decision made.
In terms of future plans, I aim to constantly reach for the refinement of my skills as an archivist and knowledge-bearer, working in cultural spaces to share resources with each new generation, while remaining open to new ideas, willing to question what I thought I knew, and with a preparedness to adapt. I want to build, with intention, places (literal and intellectual) that feel welcoming and accessible.
This is a promise to serve.
